103 Years of Impact: Happy Founder’s Day!

Happy Founders Day! The first Soroptimist club was founded on October 3, 1921, in Oakland, California, USA. It was a day when a group of female pioneers, led by President Violet Richardson, united in their purpose to create an organization committed to improving the lives of women and girls.

What started as a single club with 80 women philanthropists, is now a global network of Soroptimist federations with more than 75,000 members across six continents!

103 years later, Soroptimists play an important role in Violet's legacy by continuing her work to invest in the dreams of women and girls through access to education. We are so grateful for our members' ongoing hard work, generosity, and passion for our mission. Thank you!

Let us continue the work together and with others, toward the development of a better womanhood, a better manhood, and a better citizenship.
— Violet Richardson, First President of Soroptimist
