Club Spotlight: SI/Hanford, CA—Leading through Generosity
Thank you to SI/Hanford, CA (Sierra Pacific Region), who recently donated $8,000 towards the Dream Big Campaign! This gift, over and above their consistent annual $10,000 to Club Giving, represented 10% of their recent very successful fundraiser Festival of Trees. The club’s campaign gift will support our Big Goal of investing in the dreams of a half million women and girls through access to education.
SI/Hanford takes great pride in the impactful work they do with Soroptimist’s Dream Programs. They hold an annual Dream It, Be It conference that has been growing year over year. Girls hear from local women who have faced challenges in their own lives and leave the event with a greater sense of purpose and tools for success. The club hopes to reach 100 girls through this program next year!
Fundraising Council Chair and SI/Hanford member Tana Elizondo has been an advocate within the club and region to promote the importance of supporting Soroptimist’s Dream Programs and Dream Big Campaign. Promoting philanthropy within regions and clubs is at the core of the work of the Fundraising Council.
Immediate Past President Peggy Montgomery commented, “I wish more people would hear what our organization does and become a supporter. We are collectively helping women in the geographic areas our federation serves [North America, Latin America and the Pacific Rim], not just in our own communities. Expanding global communications and technology is a key focus of this campaign. As we grow in these areas, we’ll be able to get our mission out further to impact more women and girls.”
To date, 128 clubs have made a gift to the Dream Big Campaign! If your club would like to support this effort before August 31, please contact Erica Cheslock, Director of Donor Relations, at erica@soroptimist.org.
