Directive

Key Strength: Directive leaders are characterized by their confidence and decisiveness. They provide their teams with guidance and a strong sense of direction, ensuring tasks are completed effectively. Their ability to take charge in high-pressure situations often leads to success when rapid action is needed.

What to Watch For: Can sometimes unintentionally dismiss others' opinions.

Participative

Key Strength: Participative leaders focus on empowering others by involving them in decision-making processes. They prioritize open communication and seek out diverse perspectives. This leadership style results in a sense of collaboration and shared responsibility within teams.

What to Watch For: A potential drawback of this approach is that it can result in longer decision-making times, especially when multiple parties struggle to reach an agreement.

Delegative

Key Strength: Like participative leaders, delegative leaders aim to empower others but take it a step further by granting greater autonomy, allowing team members freedom to make important decisions and manage their own work.

What to Watch For: While this leadership style can be well-received by self-motivated individuals, it may pose challenges for those who rely on clear instructions or benefit from more guidance and support from their leaders.

Transformational

Key Strength: Transformational leaders are visionaries who constantly seek innovative solutions and strive to inspire and motivate their teams. Their goal is to encourage others to think outside the box.

What to Watch For: However, those with this leadership style may sometimes focus too much on the big picture and overlook day-to-day tasks. To be most effective, they may need to balance their focus on long-term goals with more practical, short-term solutions.
