SIA Photo Contest Ends April 30!

Encourage your clubs to capture the dynamic energy of their spring events and submit their best shots to the SIA photo contest. This is a great opportunity to showcase the impact of their work—and maybe even win a gift card to the SIA Store!

Direct clubs to the Photo and Video Guidelines and Great Photo Cheat Sheet for inspiration and helpful tips on what makes a winning photo.

Note: Upcoming region conferences offer a perfect backdrop for snapping vibrant, engaging member photos. We can't wait to see them!

AI: What is it?

From social media to smart assistants, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is popping up everywhere—but what exactly is it, and how can it help with your public awareness efforts?

Simply put, AI is when computers are programmed to think and learn like humans. It powers things like chatbots, voice assistants and even self-driving cars by using data to make smart decisions. The best part? It can also be a handy assistant for your club’s communications!

Here Are 5 Ways to Use AI for Public Awareness Success:

  1. Generate Content Ideas
Need fresh social media posts? Ask AI prompts like: “What are some content ideas related to women and girls' issues?” to spark ideas and inspiration. The more specific your prompt, the better the results.

  2. Plan a Campaign
AI tools can draft a rough timeline or outline that you can tailor to reflect your specific needs when organizing an event, awareness campaign or social media series.

  3. Write Engaging Captions
Ask for captions that fit your tone. Want to take it up a notch? Ask AI to "SEO optimize" them to help attract interested followers and improve search engine results.

  4. Edit Your Messaging
Not sure if your flyer or social post sounds right? Ask AI to make it clearer, more engaging or concise. Or request a more formal, friendly or persuasive tone based on your audience and goals.

  5. Use with Caution
AI is powerful but not perfect. It can get things wrong. Always double-check information. Never enter anything personal, private or sensitive. And remember it is not a replacement for human judgment.
