Donor Spotlight: SI/Glendale, CA, Makes $10,000 Donation to Dream Big Campaign
Kathy Lefkovits joined SI/Glendale, CA (Camino Real Region), after she was invited to a new member orientation and was impressed by the mission of Soroptimist and the work being accomplished in the community. Now, 24 years later, Kathy is the president of the club and continues to be driven by the mission, the Big Goal, and supporting the Dream Big Campaign.
“Members of SI/Glendale know in our hearts and souls that we truly are helping women and girls and making a difference in their lives. The knowledge that there are many women who are empowered and assisted by our efforts is what drives me personally,” President Kathy shares.
SI/Glendale has been committed to helping women and girls since the day they chartered in 1943. Not only has the club been actively involved in empowering women and girls in their Glendale community, but have donated to the worldwide work of SIA and SI for many years.
The club’s “special projects fund” started by fundraising for a low-income retirement facility in the 1990s and then grew from there. In 2006, the club contributed $25,000 to Soroptimist to fund the STOP Trafficking Awareness Campaign. Over the years, the club has donated to other special projects throughout their community and worldwide.
Kathy also shares, “We are so delighted to recently donate $10,000 to the Dream Big Campaign. Being a part of the 2021-2031 Big Goal of investing in the dreams of a half million women and girls through access to education is so inspiring and fulfilling. It is so exciting to be a part of the legacy of helping half a million women and girls live a better life.”
The entire SI/Glendale club was excited to have the opportunity to make this substantial donation. Thank you to President Kathy, the Special Projects Committee, and all members of the club for their dedication and commitment to Soroptimist’s Big Goal!
