What is the renewal period for the Soroptimist club/region liability insurance?
The Soroptimist club/region liability insurance has renewed for the April 1, 2025-April 1, 2026, policy year. This policy is acquired by SIA Headquarters to cover U.S. clubs and regions for general liability and other specific coverages. You can review the coverage available through the liability policy in the Club and Region Insurance Overview and Handbook and access the updated Certificate of Insurance on the SIA website (no login required). Please make sure that you submit the new Certificate of Insurance for any events taking place after April 1, 2025.
Who is the underwriter for SIA’s club/region liability insurance policy?
Philadelphia Insurance Companies underwrites the 2025/2026 policy. Philadelphia Insurance provided a package that meets our clubs' current and trending demands.
What is the summary of changes for SIA’s club/region liability insurance policy?
A summary of the changes are as follows:
This year’s general liability policy coverage moves to $1 million per occurrence/$3 million aggregate coverage (previously 1 million/2 million). In combination with the separate umbrella policy of $1 million per occurrence/$1 million aggregate, clubs have access to the $2 million occurrence/$4 million aggregate coverage many venues now require to use their facilities.
Clubs that have multi-day events are automatically covered. “Multi-day” includes those events where set-up or rehearsals, the actual event, and breakdown may take place over more than one day.
Clubs have access to crime coverage if an officer or director commits theft, forgery or alterations.
Clubs have access to coverage for conference cancellations, business travel accidents, donation assurance, fundraising event blackouts, identity theft, and image restoration and counseling, as well as other limited coverages provided exclusively by Philadelphia Insurance.
The number of excluded activities has decreased. See the excluded activity list found on page 5 of the Handbook.
However, alcohol coverage has changed for a limited number of clubs: Any event with liquor provided by the insured if a license is required for such activity is now excluded. Please contact our insurance broker, Pacific Ag Insurance, at least 30-45 days in advance to secure special event coverage for such events. TIPS or equivalent training is still required for all members who may be serving alcohol provided by the club. See the Insurance section of the Club Administration page of the SIA website (no login required) to access TIPS training information.
Does SIA’s club liability policy offer coverage for errors and omissions?
Yes, clubs continue to have coverage for sexual abuse and molestation, and professional liability—also known as errors and omissions coverage. Automobile liability also continues, which provides coverage for club liability if a member using a personal vehicle for club business is in an accident with another vehicle, and there is damage or injury to that other vehicle/its occupants. (Note this does not cover the member’s personal liability. If a member is using their automobile for Soroptimist business, it is recommended they have their own personal automobile coverage.)
