Working with our members to better the lives of women and girls is the best part of my day. I look forward to every meeting, conference, and convention.

She served as president in 2020-2021 and was challenged with the task of holding all of their meetings and events on Zoom. In a time of uncertainty and new ground, she is grateful to have been able to still reach members and do good work as a club.

Judy has one thing to thank for changing her life with Soroptimist: a sticker!

Yes, really, a sticker. Judy, for most of her adult life, was an early childhood educator and loved to read to children. One summer afternoon, she picked up a book and began to read. When she finished, she turned the book over and noticed it had a sticker. The sticker said, "This Book Provided by Central Solano County Soroptimist."* While the children were napping, Judy looked at their website and realized that this club was something she was interested in. However, the meeting schedule did not work with her job, and she, unfortunately, had to put joining on hold. She knew one day, she would become a Soroptimist.

Judy’s passion for wanting to join came from her own life experiences. “I was once a single mother of two young boys struggling to make ends meet. On welfare, working full-time, and going to the local community college at night. The future seemed bleak. But I did it and eventually succeeded in the field of early childhood development.”

When Judy finally had the opportunity to join SI/Central Solano County, CA, in 2017 after retiring, she went to the meeting and was welcomed with open arms. A lovely member offered to sponsor her if she chose to join, and that was the beginning of her Soroptimist journey!

“Spending every Tuesday with many of our fabulous women brings me so much joy!” Whether you joined from a mutual friend or a sticker, YOU ARE A SOROPTIMIST CHANGING LIVES!

*Reach Out and Read Books are given out by physician's offices at baby and children's well checkups. SI/Central Solano County, CA, partnered with their local library to provide the books. When they have guests or speakers, they have them sign the back of the books.
