Walk for Women FAQ
-
The Walk for Women is an annual worldwide event held in March to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.
The Walk for Women is about more than just taking steps—it’s about creating opportunities and transforming lives. By joining us, you’ll support programs like the Live Your Dream Awards, which provides education for women overcoming obstacles, and Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls, which empowers young women to build brighter futures.
Every dollar raised supports our mission to inspire women and girls to reach their full potential, one step at a time. Together, we can make dreams a reality!
-
Walk for Women is a flexible event—you can participate wherever you are! Choose a location that works for you and set your own schedule during the designated event period.
-
Everyone! Whether you’re a Soroptimist member, a friend, a family member, or just someone passionate about women’s empowerment, you’re welcome to join.
-
Yes! You can invite friends, family, or fellow members to join your walk. They can also be part of your fundraising team—working together on a collective fundraising goal makes the experience even more fun.
-
Fundraising is highly encouraged to maximize your impact, but it’s not required. Even if you choose not to fundraise, your participation helps spread the word about Soroptimist’s work. You can also choose to make a direct donation on the Walk for Women page.
-
Starting your fundraiser is easy! On the Walk for Women page, you’ll find a link to create your fundraising page. Add your name, email, and a short message about why you’re participating. Then share your page with friends and family to encourage donations.
-
Soroptimist is developing a Walk for Women toolkit with resources, tools, and templates to help you succeed in your fundraising efforts. Check back in early February for updates!
-
All funds raised go directly to Soroptimist International of the Americas, Inc. to support programs that help women and girls achieve their education and career goals. Learn more about your impact here!
-
You’ll be able to see your fundraising total on your personal page. If you’re participating with a team, you can track your collective progress there too!
-
If walking isn’t an option for you, there are still plenty of ways to participate:
Do a Seated Workout: Join the movement by doing a seated exercise video or stretching routine that works for your abilities.
Take a Virtual Walking Tour: Explore a new destination or a favorite place from the comfort of your home with a virtual walking tour online. Try https://virtualvacation.us/walk or https://citywalksvirtualtours.com
Host a Mini Event: Invite friends over for a small gathering to learn about Soroptimist’s mission and make donations in lieu of walking.
Be a Cheerleader: Show your support by volunteering or cheering on participants during the event. Your participation in any form helps amplify the mission and spread awareness—every step (or seated move!) counts!
