Happy Violet Richardson Month!

Let us continue the work together and with others, toward the development of a better womanhood, a better manhood, and a better citizenship.
— Violet Richardson, First President of Soroptimist

Dear Soroptimist members,

On October 3, 1921, the very first Soroptimist club was founded in Oakland, California, USA. It was a day when women pioneers, led by President Violet Richardson, united in their purpose to create an organization committed to improving the lives of women and girls.

102 years later, we are celebrating President Violet’s incredible legacy—that Soroptimists like you continue to build upon—with the second annual Violet Richardson Month of Giving!

In honor of The Violet Richardson Month of Giving and the anniversary of Soroptimist’s founding, please consider becoming a Soroptimist Stargazer Monthly Donor. Your monthly gift, whether it be $100, $50, or $10, in honor of Soroptimist’s first president, helps provide the resources we need to invest in the dreams of women and girls for another 102 years.

Soroptimist may have started as a single club with 80 women philanthropists, but we are now a global network with more than 75,000 members across six continents! You and your fellow members are such an important part of carrying Violet’s vision forward as we work together to invest in the dreams of half a million women and girls through access to education.

As with our predecessors, the road forward may not always be easy. Even after 102 years, women and girls still face inequality, and they still need our help. But our united purpose will see us through. Let us be inspired by the strength and generosity of our founders as we reach new heights during our second century.

I am so proud to be serving as SIA’s 64th president and to be a part of a long line of women who have led this organization. And I am deeply grateful for the generosity, passion, and dedication that members like you bring to Soroptimist every day. Thank you!

Reaching Higher Together,

Bobbi Enderlin
