Honor International Women’s Day by Investing in Women

“Investing in women is not just a choice but a human rights imperative.”

-The United Nations, 2024

At a recent Fundraising Council meeting, we started to chat about the significance of International Women’s Day.

When the first International Women’s Day took place in 1911, most women had no vote, no voice and little choice in how their lives would play out. How fitting that just a decade later, the first Soroptimist club brought together women determined to change that status quo.

In the 100+ years since then, Soroptimists have carried forward that spirit of progress. Our members have brought education and economic empowerment to thousands of women and girls worldwide. Isn’t that amazing?

Yet there is still work to do. Many more can still benefit from our Dream Programs. Will you help lead the push for progress with a gift in honor of International Women’s Day?

I have been a Soroptimist member for 34 years. Being in this community of accomplished women and dear friends is an extraordinary experience. I am proud of my club's work, especially the ongoing mentorship we give our Live Your Dream Awards recipients.

Each day, Soroptimists like you and I invest in a world where women and girls are free to pursue their dreams. Our efforts align with the UN's stance: investing in women is not just a choice but a human rights imperative.

As we gear up for International Women's Day events, including the Walk for Women, the Tea Party and the CSW event, let's take a moment to appreciate our progress. Our commitment to the 2021-2031 Big Goal, investing in the dreams of half a million women and girls, deserves celebration!

I hope you will join me today in showing off your Soroptimist pride through a special donation for International Women’s Day. Your gift supports our impact and ensures that Soroptimist’s legacy continues for future generations.

Let’s invest our time, energy, and resources as we pave the way for progress. Join me by making an investment in women and the future we collectively strive for.
