How Club Giving Contributions Support the Big Goal

Club Giving contributions are an invaluable source of funding for the tools and supports that SIA provides our members and the women and girls we serve. Your Club Giving contributions are put to work right away to meet the immediate needs of women and girls through our global Dream Programs.

Among other things, Club Gifts ensure that SIA can…

  • Enable newly chartered clubs to provide their first Live Your Dream Award.

  • Provide Soroptimist Club Grants and distribute the funds to local club projects in support of the Big Goal.

  • Develop resources that help clubs raise funds and create impact locally.

  • Create and annually update training materials, promotional materials, and procedures for the Dream Programs.

  • Translate materials so they are available in the six languages used by our members and the women and girls we serve.

  • Track and analyze program data across all regions to be able to communicate our collective impact.

  • Fund Live Your Dream Awards for region and federation recipients.

  • Fund Live Your Dream Awards for women who do not live near a Soroptimist club.

  • Provide information to help our volunteer representatives with their advocacy efforts for the UN and UN-related events.

  • And more!

Club Giving makes a difference in many ways, but perhaps the most visible impact is how it enables clubs to participate in the Dream Programs—even if they are struggling to find the resources to do so.

One member shared with us that the funding her newly chartered club received for their first Live Your Dream Award allowed them to get settled into doing program work right away. “This was significant, especially since we chartered during COVID… and it took us a few months to get started on fundraising. We would not have been able to do a Live Your Dream Award our first year [without this support],” she said.

For others, Club Giving funds the Soroptimist Club Grants that help with operational costs and supplies they need to expand their Dream Programs. For example, clubs in Japan used a grant in 2019-2020 to go above and beyond their usual programming and offered a Dream It, Be It project to girls living in an orphanage.

Another important use of Club Giving funds is providing Live Your Dream Awards for women who do not live close to a Soroptimist club. Without these funds, many deserving applicants would be disqualified from receiving help just because of where they live. Fortunately, we can provide awards to these women through SIAHQ, thanks to contributions from Club Giving.

It’s because of clubs’ generosity that these benefits, and many others, are made possible! Club Giving bolsters fellow members and provides life-changing support to women and girls across our federation—striking that balance between local and global impact.

While we know clubs face many competing priorities, we ask clubs to think carefully about where they are investing their resources and to put Soroptimist and our Dream Programs at the top of the list.

If your club can make the recommended contribution of 10% of your locally raised funds this year, it is especially needed. Please make your gifts prior to June 30, the end of the club year.

Recognition Benefits for Club Giving

We love to show our appreciation for clubs’ generosity, so every club that gives is listed on our annual Club Giving Honor Roll and receives a digital badge they can proudly display on their club’s website!

Clubs that contribute are also entered into a drawing for a chance to win $1,000 extra funding toward their Live Your Dream Award program next fiscal year (up to 8 entries, depending on the gift size). Additionally, clubs who contribute may be highlighted on SIA’s social feed or in Best for Women, getting a chance to show off their support for our Big Goal.

See the full list of recognition benefits below.
