Patti Ippolito: Making Dreams Come True
Patti Ippolito of SI/Zane Grey Country, AZ (Golden West Region) is employed at her county's only domestic violence shelter. With such limited county resources, she has seen many survivors of crisis and trauma coming into her shelter.
"I am thankful every day that I was raised in a good home with hard-working parents that taught my brother, sister, and myself to be responsible, good stewards with our finances, and to give unconditionally to those less fortunate," says Patti. "I never had to fret about where my next meal would come from or how to find shelter when the sun goes down for the evening, but in my line of work, I have heard the stories of those who have faced such hardships."
Every year, Soroptimist distributes more than $2.8 million in education awards to about 1,700 women, many of whom are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, or sexual assault. Patti was recently able to help one of her residents apply for the Live Your Dream Award.
"She not only won but graduated trade school top in her class, secured employment, and purchased a new car," says Patti. "You know, I joined my club because I quickly saw the impact Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award has. Women who never would have been able to live their dream due to their current situation, we help them. I can only imagine how many lives have been changed, how many women can lay their heads down at night and feel safe, grateful, and blessed because of a wonderful organization designed to empower women around the world."
Congratulations to all of our recent graduates and the Soroptimists who have helped their dreams come true.
