Call for Volunteers for New Club/Region Governing Documents Task Force

In July 2024 the SIA Board of Directors approved a Club/Region Governing Documents Task Force. The task force is initially charged with producing updated club bylaws and club procedure templates that are culturally appropriate in all federation areas. These products will support a federation-wide effort beginning with the 2025-2026 club year to ensure clubs have updated bylaws and procedures by the federation’s 100th anniversary in 2028.  The task force will also look at region governing documents alignment in a second phase of work.


Soroptimist members from SIA’s various language and culture/country groups are invited to apply for task force appointment. Ideally, there will be one task force member from each of the following areas: the United States, Canada, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Brazil, and Latin America. 

To focus SIA’s translation and interpretation resources on dissemination and training with the final products produced by the task force, interested members should have the following skills:

1. Understand written and spoken English to: 

  •  Take part in Zoom-based task force meetings conducted in English without interpretation.

  •   Read drafted governance documents in English and provide written comments in English.

  •  Review final drafts of task force-generated governance documents translated by SIA’s translation vendor to ensure the translation of governance concepts and cultural considerations are conveyed correctly in the translation.

2. Interest in helping clubs, regions and SIA align governance to ensure exceptional club and region governance standards.  

SIA President Ginger Cole will be make appointments in November 2024 for a term ending August 31, 2025, with the possibility of a term extension. The task force will be led by 2024-2025 SIA Laws and Resolutions Committee Chair Melanie Kenny and Laws and Resolutions Committee Staff Liaison Lisa Mangiafico. The work of the task force is expected to begin in December 2024.
