Join SIA's Global Communications Work Group

As we recently shared, SIA is now using artificial intelligence (AI) to translate our communications. We invite members with strong language skills and cultural expertise to apply for our new Communications Review Work Group.

Selected members will partner with SIA staff and fellow Soroptimists to refine our translation process and strengthen the messages we share across the federation.

A thoughtful approach to AI translation

Effective communication takes more than translating words. Together, we can help ensure our messages convey their intended meaning, reflect SIA’s tone and brand voice, and are appropriate for the cultures and communities receiving them.

How you can contribute

Work group members will help:

  • Refine translated glossary terms to reflect SIA’s terminology and tone.

  • Review English originals alongside translations of newsletters, website content, emails and announcements, providing culturally and contextually appropriate wording.

  • Provide feedback to improve our translation tools and review process.

Who should apply

Members must be fluent in English and at least one of our federation languages: Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, or Korean, with a strong understanding of the relevant cultural context. A deep familiarity with specialized terminology—such as legal, technical or financial language—is strongly preferred.

Participants will receive onboarding and guidance. The group is expected to serve for at least one year up to the end of the biennium.

Complete your application by October 23.

After the deadline, SIA will review applications and select members whose skills and experience align with the group’s needs.

Thank you for helping us strengthen the way we connect across our languages and cultures!
